‘Only he shall attend Allah’s places of worship who believes in Allah and the Last Day, and observes prayer and pays the alms and fears none but Allah alone; it may be that those will be among the rightly guided.’ This is verse 9:18 of the Quran which calls worshippers to Allah’s place, which in Islam is represented by its mosques. In 13 different verses of the Quran, Muslims and believers are called to Allah’s place. In other verses the mosques (or masjids) are referred to as the Houses of Allah on Earth. It is a promise from Allah that he is generous to those who visit Him in the Mosques.
There are so many mosques, from Middle East to Africa, and from Europe to various parts of the United States which you can visit. They cover the oldest and most sacred ones to those which are more modern, and include stunning architecture and impressive geometric tiles, all of which should be seen at least once in every person’s lifetime.
THE PURITY OF ISLAM
A mosque celebrates the purity of the Islamic faith. In ancient times the biggest and oldest mosques were not only places to pray but also included a complex with a hospital, school, public kitchen for the poor and various social houses. It showed that Allah’s place was open to everyone. Some of them were built by very famous architects of the time, but some were even made by the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.a.w.) himself.
Take a look at ten of the most beautiful, ancient and sacred mosque structures in the world. The first mosque in the world, the Al Haram Mosques in Mecca, tops our list. There’s also yet another, the Al Nabawi Mosque in Medina, which was built next to the Prophet Muhammad’s house. These two are at the top of every Muslim’s list.
