Vivi Zubedi as an Indonesian modest fashion designer. Her ability to create elegant and stylish Abaya designs along with an edgy-bohemia style gives her products a must-have quality for hijabi women all around the world. We discussed her fashion aesthetic, idea of what true happiness is and advice for young Hijabi girls.
Vivi Zubedi is a rising fashion designer and entrepreneur from Jakarta, Indonesia. After getting her bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of North Sumatera, she decided she was interested in fabrics, clothes, fashion rather than numbers. So she did the unexpected and followed her passion, not her degree.
A few years after she started to learn how to sew from her own tailor; in 2011 Vivi launched her first label using her own name “Vivi Zubedi”, a brand provides the updated and latest design of Abaya that brings an elegantly and stylishly versatile. Not only releasing various types of clothing and abaya, but also launching bags, shoes, accessories, and supporting products for praying such as prayer set, prayer mat, and others which of course makes her brand ready to be a global brand in the modest fashion category.
MODEST GOING MAINSTEAM
Her hardwork paid off. She first presented her collection at Indonesia Fashion Week in 2014 and received an incredible response. Her success in Indonesia get beyond the limits and she captured the hearts of fashion lovers in South Africa, London, Germany, Dubai, and Qatar. During Jakarta Fashion Week 2016 through Indonesian Fashion Gallery she took a step in the US market.She became the only Indonesian designer to be invited to Conde Naste Luxury Conference 2017 in Muscat.
In September 2017, Vivi Zubedi participated in her first fashion show at New York Fashion Week. Her talent for combining textures and patterns, meaningful shows, fresh designs, and bold colors made her the next big thing in the industry; not only for hijabi women but among all fashion critics as well. With her participation in western fashion weeks and well-deserved success, Vivi Zubedi brought her signature modest wearto the mainstream.
