This successful, young influencer is a force to be reckoned with… At the age of only 22, Marwa started her own couture line, Marwa Hassan Couture, for hijabi women. The passionate and determined designer and blogger’s social media presence and ability to inspire and impress has resulted in collaborations with a variety of local and international brands, such as Huawei, Ikea, Zanusii, La Vache qui rit, Garnier, L’Oréal, Juhayna, and Jolly Chic. She’s also appeared on many shows on networks from MBC TV to CBC TV, and joined a variety of local and regional online media outlets. She can be seen as part of various leading online campaigns and adverts, or attending fashion events, shows and boutique openings.
Quite recently, she got married to her college sweetheart, Mostafa Ibrahem. We had the opportunity to sit down with this lovely, positive woman after her honeymoon in the Maldives for our Bridal issue. And we hope her positive attitude and passionate character will inspire you as well…
What are your thoughts on modest fashion and its steady rise in popularity on the global fashion scene?
The hijabi market has existed for the longest time ever, but without being catered to before. However, there is a significant amount of Middle Eastern designers who are now emerging; in addition, hijabi women are finally being given more attention. It makes me happy to see the hijabi market grow and become popular, as this is very much needed. Globally, Islamic fashion is finally making its mark. It definitely is a revolution! I still believe that on a global scale the market can support hijabi women even more than it is. It would also be incredible to also see smaller global brands support the women of Islam.
As a blogger, designer and businesswoman, how do you motivate yourself to keep going each and every day?
It can definitely get a little challenging sometimes. I truly believe that because I’m doing something that I absolutely love, it makes this challenge an absolute pleasure. Also the amount of heart-warming support I receive from my followers makes me want to strive for more. When I read messages from my young hijabi followers, especially, I automatically find the strength to keep going because their support is also a reminder of why I am doing this in the first place.
